Over the summer, I worked with another essay coach who charged twice as much, but the service was disappointing, and the essay lacked depth. My mom and I were panicking. With less than a week before my deadline, Maggie turned everything around. She took my original idea and helped me shape it into a story that truly highlighted who I am and what I could bring to my early decision school. Her feedback was honest and constructive, yet always positive and encouraging, which kept me motivated even under pressure. Despite the tight timeline, Maggie’s support was comprehensive—from brainstorming to final edits—and she made the process feel manageable and rewarding. Thanks to her guidance, I submitted an essay I was genuinely proud of. I can’t recommend her enough!

When I first came to Jacklyn, I had just one idea for my college essay—writing about football. She pushed me to dig deeper and find a story that truly reflected who I am beyond the field. With her guidance, I was able to connect my experiences with football to bigger life lessons and personal growth. Ms. Angell helped me see that my story had much more depth than I realized, and she showed me how to express it in a way that felt authentic. Thanks to her, I ended up with an essay that really felt like me, not just about something I’ve done.

In addition to her editing both my college essay and my law school personal statement, I took two classes with Mrs. Angell (Jacklyn) while I was in high school. She is supportive and knowledgeable at every stage of the writing process, and does an excellent job of improving a piece through edits, while still allowing the writer to maintain their style and voice. As a writer, I value transparency while my work is being edited in order to ensure I’m not making the same mistakes over and over again. Mrs. Angell worked with me through my more common errors, not just pointing them out, but walking me through solutions so I could improve my writing. Working with Mrs. Angell over the years made me a better writer, put me in a position to achieve more academically, and helped me win the University of South Carolina Henry T. Price Award for outstanding student copy editing this past year.

Thanks to Mrs. Angell (Jacklyn), my college application process felt seamless. She is highly experienced in the admissions process after helping hundreds of students with their essays. Due to the amount of time she has dedicated to her students, she had a remarkable ability to gather my thoughts and organize them strategically. Mrs. Angell urges authenticity which results in unique essays that are bound to stand out. I fully credit Mrs. Angell for the success of my admissions decisions which included acceptance letters from world-renowned institutions such as Northeastern University. With Mrs. Angell’s expertise, I was confident in my applications and was offered spots at all of my top schools.

Starting in my junior year, Ms. Finn (Maggie) played an essential role in guiding me through the college essay process. Whenever I had questions about how to approach my essay—whether it was about tone, structure, or word choice—Ms. Finn was always there to offer thoughtful advice. She encouraged me to focus on my authentic voice, helping me find the words that truly represented who I am. Instead of just telling me what to do, she supported me to discover what I wanted to convey and how to communicate it in the best possible way. Ms. Finn’s dedication to helping students grow, both as writers and as individuals, was something that always stood out to me. Her positive energy and guidance were motivating every day, and I will carry the lessons I learned from her into my college experience and beyond.

I could not have gotten to where I was without the help of Mrs. Angell (Jacklyn). Not only did she help me brainstorm my essay topic, but she also helped me to dig deeper once I had chosen the story I wanted to tell. She gave me so much autonomy and freedom to show who I was but she helped me so much in how my essay was worded and what the essay showed about me. Mrs. Angell was so patient with me and never once made the college essay process feel difficult. With great advice and such great writing abilities, she not only helped me with my essay but my entire college process. I am now a sophomore at Bowdoin and she helped me get here and also helped me become a better, more thoughtful writer. I cannot say enough positive things about her!
